Our Journey

Started from a crazy dream and here we are - nestled in the peaks with stories carved into every timber beam and snow-dusted window.

1987

Magnus and Astrid Bergstrom bought an old logging lodge that everyone thought was way past saving. But they saw something else - potential wrapped in weathered wood and mountain magic. The place was falling apart, honestly, but Magnus had this vision of blending his Norwegian roots with BC's wild beauty.

1992

After five years of blood, sweat, and probably too many tears, we opened our doors with just 12 suites. People called us the "quirky Nordic place up the mountain" - and honestly? We loved it. Astrid's homemade waffles became legendary that first winter, and folks started coming back just for breakfast.

2003

The spa was Astrid's dream project. She'd grown up with sauna culture and wanted to share that with our guests. We brought in thermal pools, added a proper Nordic bath experience, and suddenly people weren't just staying for the slopes - they were coming for serious relaxation.

2012

Magnus Jr. took over operations and brought fresh ideas without losing the soul of the place. We expanded to 45 suites, upgraded everything to luxury standards, but kept the hand-carved railings and stone fireplaces that made us, well, us. Also finally got WiFi that actually works - Dad held out way too long on that one.

2019

We went big with the restaurant renovation. Chef Erikson came on board from Oslo and transformed our dining into something special - locally sourced ingredients with Nordic techniques. The reindeer tartare became our signature, even though we gotta import that from back home.

2023

Started our Adventure Concierge program because turns out, guests wanted more than just pointing at a trail map. Now we've got curated experiences - from backcountry ski tours to summer alpine hikes. Plus we became fully pet-friendly 'cause honestly, dogs love mountains as much as we do.

2025

Where we're at now - a full-scale boutique resort that's somehow kept its original charm. Three generations of Bergstroms have left their mark here, and we're still discovering new ways to blend mountain living with that Scandinavian coziness we started with.

"We didn't want to build just another mountain hotel. We wanted to create a place where you'd feel the mountain's power and the warmth of a Nordic hearth at the same time. Somewhere your soul could breathe." - Magnus Bergstrom, 1987
